ABOUT ABOUT

Hoodie Allen gives everybody something to talk about.  With technically tight bars, old school soul panache, a jazzy swing, and undeniable pop appeal, Hoodie Allen continues to exude the same intoxicating musical concoction that solidified the New York MC as an independent sensation when he first formally arrived in 2009. Without a label or management, his 2012 EP "All American" landed in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top 200, eventually moving over 100,000 units. In addition to sold out worldwide tours of his own, Hoodie has also played shows alongside everybody from Passion Pit to Macklemore.

“I wanted to build a style rooted in hip-hop, pop, and soul that combined everything I loved,” Hoodie says. “The flow and wordplay are as important as the hooks are."  With a new album, "Happy Camper," just released, Hoodie Allen continues to grow his reputation as a musician with a strong sense of craftsmanship.  Hoodie Allen will play at Allegheny College on Saturday, March 5, with artists Daya and Yonas opening.

Grand like Lorde but also sunshine-bright like Katy Perry, singer and songwriter Daya first climbed the charts as a 16-year-old high school junior. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she began taking piano lessons at the age of three, and moved on to voice lessons at the age of ten. Songwriting came later, and in 2014 she signed with the Z-Entertainment label based on her demos. A year later, her single "Hide Away" took off thanks to early adopters like Tyler Oakley, Perez Hilton, and other superstar bloggers. In 2015, Daya released her debut, self-titled EP on Artbeatz. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi

Hailing from the Bronx, Yonas is one of hip-hop’s most-hyped emerging artists. Known for his unique style, the 28 year old makes it known that he is unlike anyone else in the game: “Too many times in music, and specifically in Hip-Hop and Rap, people feel the need to conform to what’s popular. I have no intention of doing that. Instead I look to really mold my own style, and take risks musically.”
